Becontree Primary School

Our School

Becontree Primary School is a 2-form entry school for pupils between the ages of five and eleven years, although some of the larger year groups are divided into three classes to reduce class sizes.

There are currently 411 pupils of compulsory school age divided into eighteen classes. 56? children attend the nursery part time and 50? children learn in the reception classes. The school is situated in a large council estate of which some homes are privately owned and serves the immediate area.

A high proportion of pupils are of white UK heritage. Pupils' attainment on entry to the school is broadly average.

Our spacious building is in the shape of a horseshoe with all rooms and teaching areas leading off a central corridor. The school is well equipped with several resource rooms, a library, an ICT suite, two spacious halls and a seperate dining room.

The school has recently been selected as a site for development, with the addition of new buildings to form a children's centre.
